- Discuss 11/12 together

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

exercise 3.6 (p.5)
  • read title + paragraph 1 + paragraph 5 and 6
a) paragraph 1: expectations/prejudice about glastonbury
compare to the title = glorious mud vs. "my idea of fun does not involve standing around in freezing sludge for four days."

final answer: a contrast, the writer thinks there is nothing glorious about the mud. ("my idea...four days").

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

exercise 3.6 (p.5)
b) paragraph 5 + 6  and compare to the title
  • paragraph 5 contrasts with the title. Glorious Glastonbury vs. vomiting, collapsing mudbanks, wanting to escape.
  • End of paragraph 5 "hot chai tea and hug" + paragraph 6: sudden realisation that it is not so bad after all, trying to create a fantastic distraction.
Final answer: paradox, mud brings people together because people help each other and that is 'glorious' ("It's a...bad weather")
