Ordinals - numerals

Ordinals zijn rangtelwoorden. Hiermee geef je iets of iemand zijn plek of rang aan.

Eerste, tweede, derde, zesde, tiende.

Numerals zijn gewoon nummers. Deze gebruik je om te rekenen, te tellen of hoeveelheden aan te geven.

Eén, zes, drie, acht, drieëntwintig

The main rule:

Voeg -th toe aan het eind van een getal om er een 

rangtelwoord van de maken.

Ten                              tenth

Twenty-six                twenty-sixth

Seven                         seventh

Streepje tussen de twee getallen

Let op! Er zijn een paar uitzonderingen.

Alle eerste, tweede, derde moet je uit je hoofd leren.

First    second     third.                 Thirty-first          twenty-second.

5,9 en 12 schrijf je anders.

Five -> fifth.        nine -> ninth        twelve -> twelfth

Bij de hele tientallen verandert de -y in -ie.

Twenty -> twentieth                forty -> fortieth.
