Adjectives (bijv. naamwoorden)

Een adjective (bijv. naamwoord) zegt iets over een noun (zelfst. naamwoord); oftewel over een mens, dier of ding.

He is a slow walker.

My mother has a loud voice.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)

• Een adverb (bijwoord) zegt vaak iets over een verb (werkwoord), dus over HOE iets gebeurt.

He walked slowly.

My mother talked loudly.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)

• Soms zegt een bijwoord ook iets over een bijv naamwoord.

That is an extremely beautiful car. 

• En  soms zegt een  bijwoord iets over een ander bijwoord.

She sings really beautifully. 

• En soms over een hele zin!

Soms verandert de spelling!

• woorden die eindigen op -le: -le wordt ly

horrible - horribly

• woorden die eindigen op -y: wordt -ily

happy - happily en angry - angrily

• woorden die eindigen op -ic:  -ally erachter

fantastic - fantastically

SAMENGEVAT

•  Adjectives: bijvoeglijke naamwoorden, zeggen iets over wat iets of iemand is
• Adverbs: bijwoorden, zeggen iets over een werkwoord, bijvoeglijk naamwoord, bijwoord of hele zin. Gaat over hoe.
• Spelling adverbs MEESTAL bijvoeglijk naamwoord + ly
