Woorden met één lettergreep

Krijgen - er in de vergrotende en - est in de overtreffende trap:

tall - taller (than)- (the) tallest

Bestaat een woord uit één lettergreep en eindigt

het op één klinker en één medeklinker, dan 

verdubbelt de medeklinker.:

big – bigger (than) – (the) biggest

Woorden met 2 lettergrepen

Eindigt het woord op - le, -er, -ow, -some of -y:                         -er & -est

simple - simpler - simplest

easy - easier - easiest

Eindigt het woord niet op - le, -er, -ow, -some of -y- :             more & most

Woorden met 3 of meer lettergrepen

Krijgen more in de vergrotende en most in de overtreffende trap:
