Ik kan onderscheid maken tussen de de first en second conditional en kan deze correct toepassen.

Wanneer gebruiken we de first conditional? 

- Wordt gebruikt als het mogelijk is dat iets gaat gebeuren OF voor dingen die over het algemeen waar zijn. 

(We noemen 'if-sentences' over mogelijke situaties ook wel de 'first conditional'). 

Waarom is het belangrijk de term te kennen?

If I won a lot of money, I would buy a big house in the country.

Opbouw first conditional

Een 'first conditional' wordt altijd op dezelfde manier gebruikt:

If we miss the bus,                       we will get a taxi.

Present Simple               +               Will + hele ww

Voorwaarde                                       resultaat

If it rains tonight,

2. I will not go out

If Tim studies hard,

1. He passes his exam
2. He will pass his exam

......, we will miss our flight.

Second conditional

De second conditional is een if-zin die je kunt gebruiken voor dingen waarvan het onwaarschijnlijk is dat ze gaan gebeuren. 

Je geeft ermee aan dat iets zal gebeuren in het onwaarschijnlijke geval dat er aan de voorwaarde (de if-zin) wordt voldaan. 

If I won the lottery, I would buy a new house for my parents.

Wat is een heel onwaarschijnlijke gebeurtenis? Start je zin met: If.. Het resultaat hoef je niet te vermelden. Overleg ter inspiratie met je buur.

Second conditional

Een second conditional wordt altijd op dezelfde manier opgebouwd.

If I won the lottery,             I would buy a new house.

            Past simple         +          would + hele werkwoord

Second conditional - Unlikely to happen
