Question tags

•  Korte vraag naar bevestiging, einde zin 

- Het is mooi weer, he? 

- Hij is 13 jaar, toch? 

- He is 13 years old, isn't he? 

He is 13 years old, isn't he?

- He is 13 years old       = hoofdzin 

- isn't he                            = tag

Je gebruikt het onderwerp + persoonsvorm uit de hoofdzin: 

- He  is 13 years old,     isn't he

Hoofdzin bevestigend? Tag ontkennend

Hoofdzin ontkennend? Tag bevestigend

Question tags

Onderwerp blijft hetzelfde: 

- he = he; she = she; we = we; etc

- Kate = she; James = he; my sisters = they; Kate and I = we; etc

Bevestigend <> ontkennend: 

- is       <>    isn't

- are    <>   aren't

- can   <>   can't

Finish the sentence:
We are eating ice cream, ...

Finish the sentence:
She is never going there, ...

Finish the sentence:
Your sisters can draw, ...

Finish the sentence:
I am not very tall, ...

Present continuous

Take a minute to remember what present continuous is again:

When do you use
present continuous?

1. Als je iets van plan bent om te gaan doen
2. Als iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt
3. Als iets op dit moment aan de gang is
4. Als het zeker is dat iets gaat gebeuren

Which one is present continuous?

1. James walks to school
2. James is walking to school
3. James is going to walk to school
4. James will walk to school

So...

•  als iets nu aan de gang of bezig is

        dus bijv. iets wat iemand nu aan het doen is

• to be            +  verb + ing

       am/is/are  +  walk + ing 

       I am walking
