We are thrilled to introduce our new lesson editor! It has been launched in Beta as we continue to build and refine its features. With this new lesson editor, we are setting a new standard for teachers to create, prepare, and teach interactive lessons.
In this article, we'll explore the benefits of the new lesson editor, the features it includes, and what you can expect in the coming months.
Key upgrades in the new lesson editor:
- Upgrade your PowerPoints: import, edit, and add interactivity
- Benefit from a revamped, user-friendly interface
- Edit your slides and components effortlessly
- Customise and personalise your lessons
- Co-edit lessons with your colleagues in real time
1. Upgrade your PowerPoints: import, edit, and add interactivity
In our new lesson editor, you're able to import your PowerPoint lessons and tailor them to your needs. Contrary to the classic lesson editor, which you've been using so far for creating your lessons, you're now able to edit text after importing them, reposition images, and add any interactive slides to your lesson.
We've listened to your feedback, because our new lesson editor automatically converts your PowerPoint components —text, images, and other components— into editable parts. Although this feature is still in Beta and doesn’t fully support all components (like graphs or tables), we ensure that any unsupported components are converted into images, preserving the original look of your PowerPoint. For more details on importing PowerPoint files and supported components, visit our Help Centre article.

2. Benefit from a revamped, user-friendly interface
With the new lesson editor, we’ve completely revamped the user interface. Inspired by contemporary interfaces, the new lesson editor feels familiar and intuitive. A few highlights that contribute to this familiar feeling include:
- Guides: Position your components accurately using guides.
- Positioning: Select and drag multiple components at once.
- Edit text: Change or delete text in any slide, regardless of its layout.
- Quick actions: Edit your font, colour or styling by using the quick actions that will appear when selecting a component.
- Edit overview: Edit your slides in a clean workspace with fewer distractions.
3. Edit your slides and components effortlessly
Editing your slides has never been easier. You can now add interactive and informative slides to your lesson and enrich them with text, images (including backgrounds), and hotspots. In the classic editor, editing slides and their components could be time-consuming. In the new editor, we’ve streamlined the process in two key ways:
The sidebar
When you select a slide or component, a sidebar appears on the right side of your screen. This sidebar contains all the available settings for your slide or component, grouped by category. Easily change your slide layout, text settings, image transparency, and more. Thanks to the sidebar you can edit your lesson and view changes in real time.
Quick actions
When you click on a component on your slide, a set of quick action options appear. They allow you to make immediate changes to the component’s styling. For example, when selecting text, you can easily adjust the font size, colour, and styling without having to navigate through menus.
By introducing the sidebar and quick actions we've made it easier for you to edit your lesson and see the results of any changes directly on your slide.
4. Customise and personalise your lessons
Whether your lessons are inspired by others or created from scratch, we understand how important it is to personalise them. With the new lesson editor, we’ve added more customisation options and give you greater control over how you create and teach your lessons. A few highlights include:
- Customisable font sizes
- Multiple font families within a single text component
- Slanted positioning of text
- Transparency for images
- Corner radius for images
- And more to come…
Teaching your lesson
Next to improving the edit experience of your lesson, we've also made several upgrades to the teaching mode to help you deliver your lessons smoothly:
- Visibility of the QR and join codes have improved, making it easier for students to access your lesson.
- Slide navigation has improved, giving you greater control to jump effortlessly to any slide.
5. Co-edit lessons with your colleagues in real time
One of the great advantages of LessonUp is that you can easily share lessons with your colleagues. Until now, however, it was not possible to see whether and by whom changes had been made to your lesson. With the new lesson editor, you can see in real time who is viewing or editing your lesson! Just like in shared documents on Microsoft or Google, you can now also see which changes the other person makes. This feature enables real-time collaboration in the same lesson, making it very easy to coordinate and optimise lessons together with your team.
The best is yet to come!
The launch of the new lesson editor marks a significant milestone in interactive teaching and begins a new chapter for LessonUp. As we continue to support you in your daily work, we’re committed to making learning even more engaging.
