The Medieval World

  • The church and religion were very important.
  • Your life here and now isn't important. The focus is on life after death: Memento Mori.
  • Research does exist but is primarily focused on the Bible. 
  • Writings saved from the antiquity are often adapted by the clergy.

  • This changes around the year 1300. 
  •  Writings by Arabic scholars are filled with knowledge unheard of in Europe. Scientists start to doubt what they know. 
  • The economy grows           Civilians gain more power and free themselves from the government and the church. 
  • Crusaders bring back information from around the world that isn't in agreement with the knowledge they've always relied on.
