  Animals and the weather

Slide 1 - Slide

Last week we looked at some farm animals.
This week we will look at some more animals.
We will look at pets and animals that live in the wild.

Afterwards, we will take a look at the weather.
In Spring, the weather changes all the time.
One day it can be sunny and the next day it's raining.

So, let's start by looking at the animals...

Did you know that some animals can even tell us what the weather is going to be like? You don't even have to be able to speak cow, dog or parrot language to understand. Interested? Then read on...

Slide 10 - Slide

Frogs
If you are near some water with frogs in it, you sometimes hear them getting louder and louder. That means a storm is on the way, so get your umbrella ready and run home!

Slide 11 - Slide

Birds
When the weather is nice and sunny, birds fly high in the sky. But when you see them flying low, that means bad weather is on its way. If you watch them carefully, you will see this happen just before it rains or even thunders!

Slide 12 - Slide

Cows
Most of the time, when we look at fields filled with cows, we see them all standing or walking around. But when it’s going to rain, they quickly lie down to get a dry spot before they get really wet!

Slide 13 - Slide

Bees and butterflies
We also think that bees and butterflies can tell when the weather is going to change. So when you look in the gardens and see there are no bees or butterflies, it probably means they have gone away to hide from the rain that is on its way.
