• Know how to read a map of a town.

What is a town?

What can we find inside a town?

Write down at least 10 words!

Notes

Town -> smaller than a city, but larger than a village. 

The smaller a community, the less facilities there are. 

Examples:

Amsterdam-> city

Hoofddorp->town

Zwaanshoek->village

Notes

Community-> a place where people live together.

Three types of communities:

1. URBAN (stedelijk) : large and highly populated

2.SUBURBAN (buitensteden, aan de rand van de stad): near a city, more space, less traffic)

3.RURAL (platteland, dorpen): very few people, lots of natural landscape surrounding it

Notes

The 4 main cities of the Netherlands are:

• Amsterdam
• Utrecht
• Rotterdam
• Den Haag

All together we call these cities RANDSTAD
