What do we remember from the Present Simple?

Present Continuous

Acties die op het moment dat je erover praat/schrijft bezig zijn.

am/are/is + werkwoord + -ing

Voorbeelden:

She is talking to him.

I am walking to school

Present Continuous

Bij vraagzinnen:

Am/are/is + onderwerp + werkwoord

Voorbeelden:

Are they visiting the Guggenheim today?

Is he taking the bus to school?

Present Continous

Bij tijdsbepaling die verwijst naar het heden:

At the moment, now, right now, today.

Voorbeeld:

Where is Bailey? - She is sleeping at the moment.

Rules for the Present Continuous

1. hele werkwoord + -ing:

walk > walking

2. woorden die eindigen op -e:

live> living

3. woorden die eindigen op -ie:

lie> lying

Rules for the Present Continuous

4. woorden met één -l:

travel> travelling

5. korte woorden met 1 medeklinker + 1 klinker:

swim> swimming

6. woorden met 1 medeklinker + 1 klinker met klemtoon op laatste lettergreep:

visit> visiting (eerste lettergreep)

 begin> beginning (laatste lettergreep)
