Learning objectives today

At the end of the lesson:

  • You know that muscles become stronger through movement and sports.
  • You can explain that physical activity is good for your health.

Slide 10 - Slide

Introduction
  • Exercise is healthy
  • You get good fitness
  • Movement helps to prevent complaints
  • You learn to move well when you are young

Slide 11 - Slide

4.6 healthy movement
Muscles are strong, but their strength decreases if you don’t use them. Unused muscles become thinner and weaker.

When you exercise and play sports, the opposite happens. If you use your muscles often, they become thicker. They can then apply more strength.

Slide 12 - Slide

4.6 healthy movement
Physical activity is not only good for the muscles, but it also provides relaxation. That is why many people play sports.

Regular exercise is good for fitness but also improves coordination.

By practicing movements, you can improve the speed and accuracy of your muscles.

Slide 13 - Slide

4.6 healthy movement
If you start exercising while untrained, you may get muscle pain. Muscle pain often occurs after a movement you are not used to. By training more oftent, the chance of muscle pain decreases.

Trained muscles deliver better performance. With trained muscles, you are also less likely to get an injury (blessure). An injury is a damage to a muscle, bone, or joint.

Slide 14 - Slide

4.6 healthy movement
You can prevent injuries by doing stretching exercises and a proper warm-up and cool-down when you exercise.

4.6 healthy movement
If you use a phone or play a game for a long time, you may get pain. This pain is usually in your shoulder, arm, or neck. You may also get a headache.

The pain happens because you repeat the same movement over and over. The muscles in your arm and shoulder stay tense while you hardly move (this is called RSI).
