Adverbs

- zeggen iets over een werkwoord of over een bijvoegelijk naamwoord 

- maak je door -ly achter een bijvoegelijk naamwoord te zetten

gentle  --> gently
lucky --> luckily
good --> well 

uitzonderingen: deep, fast, fair, hard, high, late, wrong, long, low, right, straight

Conjunctions (voegwoorden)

We gebruiken voegwoorden om van twee korte zinnen één lange zin te maken en verbanden aan te geven.

Voegwoorden kunnen het volgende aangeven:
- een opsomming (and)
- reden of oorzaak (because, as, for, since)
- gevolg (so, so that)
- keuze (or)
- gelijktijdigheid (while)
- tegenstelling (but, though, although, even though, however, whereas)

Exercise 3 (10 minutes)
In ten minutes time I want you to go throught the text and try to fill in some conjunctions. So connect two sentences of the text together by using a conjunction. After ten minutes you can present your sentences to me.

For example:
Researchers found that mice had an increased chance of developing cancer after taking it. This meant the drug would never be approved for human use and the drug company stopped developing it.
