Past simple explanation

*What is the past simple? (de gewone verledentijd)

*When a verb is in the past simple tense, it usually ends in -ed

*For example:
I work every day - I worked yesterday

I live my life - Cavemen lived a long time ago

Past simple

*Try to put the sentences below into the simple past

*My mother cooks a meal every night.

*We play football all the time.

*I want to help you.

*But, verbs do not always end in -ed in the past simple

*Some verbs have very different past forms, we call these verbs "irregular verbs"

*There is no rule for these verbs, you will just have to learn them.
