An adjective is used to give more information about a noun.

That is an amazing girl
I think he is a terrible football player.

The place in the sentence is always before the noun

An adverb gives information about The How.  It says something about a verb another adverb or an adjective.

 Mary sings wonderfully.
My grandparents talk incredibly loudly.
I am eating an amazingly delicious steak!

The place of adverbs
Adverbs of frequency: always, never, often, sometimes etc.
Come before the word they are linked to
We usually watch tv at night

Other adverbs
Come after the word they are linked to
He is reading quietly

The word stays the same (no -ly)
quite - quite
fast - fast
hard - hard (hardly means barely)
