to make someone do or believe something by giving them a good reason to do it or by talking to that person and making them believe it:

Speaking in public

• clear language 
• concise
• clear structure
• repetition
•  consider your audience
• keep it interesting
• no angry words, shouting
• engage!

Ethos -  appeals to the speaker's status or authority, making the audience more likely to trust them.

Pathos - appeals to the emotions, trying to make the audience feel angry or sympathetic 

Logos - appeals to the audience's reason, building up logical arguments.

Assignment 

In threes / fours, come up with an idea, something that you want to change in school. 

Prepare a pitch (1 min) in which you sell your idea to the (fictional) principal. 

Use at least two of the three retorical devices!
