Tag questions! (aangeplakte vragen)

Normally when you make sentence you say:

(examples)

 He is a runner.   (Hij is een hardloper)

or

He isn't a runner. 

Als je het niet zeker weet en je wil om bevestiging vragen, gebruik dan de tag questions. 

Examples:

He is a runner, isn't he?

He isn't a runner, is he?

Als de hoofdzin bevestigend is wordt de tag question ontkennend. Als de hoofdzin ontkennend is wordt de tag question bevestigend.

Nog meer voorbeelden:

- You're a runner, aren't you?

- You aren't a runner, are you?

LET OP! "I" krijgt bij een negatieve tag question van to be  een onregelmatige vorm:

I am a runner, aren't I?

I am not a runner, am I?

Als de hoofdzin een vorm van to be of een hulpwerkwoord (can, could, should, have, do), dan kan je die ook in de tag question gebruiken:

Examples:

- She can read it, can't she?

- They could help him, couldn't they?

- I should study, shouldn't I?

- You have a dog, haven't you?

MAAR als er in de hoofdzin geen to be of een hulpwerkwoord in staat, dan gebruik je in de tag question een vorm van to do. 

Examples:
He knows a lot about Dutch history, doesn't he? 

of 

He doesn't know a lot about Dutch history, does he?

You read books, don't you?

You don't read books, do you?
