Why were the Franks succesful in maintaining a large kingdom?

• The Romans would write their laws down.
• The Germanic people followed whoever was the leader at that moment.

Hereditary

• If your father is king, you'll also be a king.

• The Kingdom will be split. 

Clovis became a christian.

• Becoming a christian meant help from the church. 

• The Church gave the funds to fight the other tribes.

• The Franks expanded their kingdom after Clovis died.
• After 800 AD they also conquered the Frisian tribes.
