1. Our CLIL aims

- create as many lessons as we can in English ( currently 40 %) 

- professional and open  learning environment in which we work together  (content and language teachers) and help each other and we are aware of what our colleagues are teaching

- active learning environment for the students

- our ultimate aim is to get Nuffic certified (in a couple of years)

Why we believe CLIL methodology is a good thing

* it improves student motivation
* the communication skills of students develop more effectively 
* meaningful interaction
* speaking and writing skills improve tremendously 
* CLIL developes cultural awareness
* CLIL learners are prepared for studying in another language

2.1 CLIL Coach

My tasks as a CLIL coach:

*  CLIL coach conversations & lesson visits

* 'Keeping the CLIL vibe alive' 
CLIL cafe for students and teachers
 weekly CLIL updates in Teams
 Wednesday = English speaking day
 collaboration with other bilingual schools 

2.2 CLIL coach

one-on-one coaching for colleagues 
  * colleagues come to me with a CLIL dilemma
  * coach conversations 
lesson visits
  * giving tips on how to make the lessons more CLIL (CLIL lesson visit form)
weekly CLIL tips in Teams
  * CEFR
  * general tips for CLIL lessons
weekly CLIL meeting in Teams
  * how did the lessons go? --> evaluation
  * who needs help preparing their lessons?
  * are there any lesson visits/ coach conversations that need to be planned?

2. Courses for the teachers

CLIL course

2-day course with the basics of CLIL

(and yearly study day on which we go over all the CLIL basics again)

Cambridge course

All teachers are able to take a Cambridge course on B2/C1 level

3. Practical lessons in English

cooking and serving taught in English. 

we continued with Dutch method books but faced several difficulties:
  * preparation time for teachers
  * confusing for students as well as teachers

instruction in English and after the plenary start the students start working in the kitchen and restaurant. Improvements by:
    * lesson visits by CLIL coach
    * assigning students as language invigilators
    * native speaker, Laura
