Hoe ziet dat eruit?

Een if zin bestaat uit twee delen: 

• een bijzin waarin de voorwaarde staat; deze zin begint met 
• if (als)
• een hoofdzin waar het gevolg staat. De bijzin kan zowel voor als achter de hoofdzin staan.

If I had his number, I would call him. 

For unlikely situations

Als het onwaarschijnlijk (unlikely) is dat er aan de voorwaarde kan worden voldaan, gebruik je deze bijzin.

De formule van de zin is:

if + past simple, would (not) + infinitief (hele ww).

If I knew where he lived, I would visit him.
