name an example of non-routine operations:
  • maintenance can be required which can delay the takeoff
  • weather conditions (snow, thunderstorms) may create the need for re-routing (the pilots may choose another route or land elsewhere)
  • shorter taxi times:  less time to prepare the cabin for takeoff
  • large groups of special passengers on board (refugees, soccer fans)
  • shorter than usual flight time (tailwinds): less time for service
  • VIP's on board?
  • etc.

  • flight origination = where the plane starts its departure
  • to brief = to provide a short summary about something (to provide information)
  • to review = to look something over
  • taxi time = the amount of time spent taxiing
  • crew change = a different team on board to work
  • anticipate = to expect something to happen
  • non-routine operations = things that are not standard or regular
  • maintenance = repair in case of a technical failure
  • congestion on the runway = heavy traffic,  many planes waiting for takeoff
