why is a preflight briefing important for flight attendants?
  • New flight origination or a crew change can lead to differences in the next flight.
  • They need to know what their working position is, and the tasks at that position.
  • they need to know what to be aware of for the comfort of the passengers.
  • It also helps flights run smoothly

name an example of non-routine operations:
  • maintenance can be required which can delay the takeoff
  • weather conditions (snow, thunderstorms) may create the need for re-routing (the pilots may choose another route or land elsewhere)
  • shorter taxi times:  less time to prepare the cabin for takeoff
  • large groups of special passengers on board (refugees, soccer fans)
  • shorter than usual flight time (tailwinds): less time for service
  • VIP's on board?
  • etc.
