0. Title, names, class, date
  1. Research question: A question that describes what you want to find out.
  2. Hypothesis / Prediction: Describe what you predict the answer to be.
  3. Apparatus: Describe what you need.
  4. Method: Describe what you will do.
  5. Observations: Describe what you see, hear, smell, taste, feel.
  6. Results & Conclusion: Try to explain the observations.

Balloon on a string
What do we have?
A balloon filled balloon attached to a horizontal string.

What will we do?
Let the air out so it will start moving.

Slide 8 - Slide

Important
  • Hold the string really tight & straight

  • Film in slow motion
make separate movie of a clock for 10 seconds!

  • Go in front of lockers:
Fixed distance: Measure width of locker

What will we do?
Let the air out so it will start moving.

Slide 9 - Slide

Make groups of three
Take 5 minutes to:
  • Formulate a research question
    something with speed/velocity
  • Formulate a simple hypothesis

  • Come to us-->  if OK, then start!
  •                 ack at 12:40 to write down your method & hypothesis

Before the end of the lesson,
Share the movies of balloon and clock with your partners!
work separately on report  write down:

3. Apparatus: Describe what you used.
4. Method: Describe what you did.
if there is time left, work on observations results and conclusion.

Slide 11 - Slide

Suggestions?
Is the speed of the balloon constant?

What would be your research suggestions,
for further reasearch?
