Past simple = verleden tijd

You make the past simple by adding -ed to a verb

Dani jumped up and down when she received her grade

Sometimes the spelling changes (y -> ied or double consonant)

To use the past simple in a negative sentence you use

did not/didn't + verb

I didn't like the movie

To use the past simple in a question you use did + pronoun + verb at the start of the sentence
