De boodschapper van Allah (vzmh) zei:

“Er zijn mensen die vasten en niets van hun vasten overhouden, behalve honger en dorst.” (An-Nasaa’ie) 

Beknopte uitleg:  

In een andere hadith: “Wie leugens en vulgaire taal en het handelen ernaar niet laat, hoeft van Allah ook zijn eten en drinken niet te laten.” 

In een andere hadith: “Wie in Ramadan vast uit geloof en rekenend op de beloning van Allah, al zijn voorgaande zonden zullen hem vergeven worden.”
