Most of the assignments, lessons and explanations will be in English.

If you are allowed to talk to eachother, it will be in English.

Try to ask questions in English

Pablo Picasso

Slide 23 - Video

Between 1925 and 1930 a new art movement emerged in Europe: surrealism. Picasso became influenced by this new style and continued to experiment with shapes, styles and colors. In his surrealist period, Picasso made surrealist paintings and iron-wire constructions. An example of a surrealist work by Picasso is "The Dance".

Automatic drawing

Assignment

  • Take turns drawing each others portrait
  • Do not lift your marker from your paper!
  • You are not allowed to look at your paper!
  • Take a good look at your neighbor, what shapes do you see? In what order do you draw these?

Slide 25 - Slide

How to finish your drawing?
Use markers to finish your "Picasso portrait". Use waterpaint for the background. Think about creating a colorcontrast!

Appreciation
- It must be a convincing portrait, drawn without doubt, but also without looking at your work. It doesn't have to be a perfect portrait!
- Good use of the technique. Neatly and carefully worked out.
- Name on the back (first name + last name + class)
