Will vs Going to

• Used for future tense;
• But when do you use "will" and when "going to"?

Going to

To be + going to + infinitive (hele werkwoord)

Used when:

• Planned; 
• Evidence;
• About to happen.

To be going to

Planned: 

We are going to Spain next summer. 

-> planned ahead of time, before this "conversation"

Evidence:

It is going to rain soon, the clouds are dark.

-> the dark clouds are evidence for the prediction.

About to happen:

Watch out! It is going to fall!

Will

When do you use will?

• Rapid decisions;
• Future predictions;
• To make an offer/promise/threat;
• When refusing something (won't).

Will

• Rapid decisions:
• Actually, I will buy two of those.
• Future predictions:
• I think it will rain later so take an umbrella with you.
• To make an offer:
• I will give you a discount if you buy it right now.
• When refusing something:
• My dog just won't listen to me.
