Form
Have / has + voltooid deelwoord:
1. have + ww-ed
Ex: we have lived in London for 5 years now
2. have + 3e rijtje irregular verbs
Ex. She hasn't even finished her soup yet

When to use the present perfect? 
1. When something has happened but it is not important when
Ex: We have finished all our homework. 

2. If something has started in the past and is still going on.
Ex: I have lived in Groningen since 1998 (so you still live there)

When to use the present perfect? 
3. To talk about experiences or events of which the result is still noticeable.
Ex: I can't find my keys. I have lost them. 
So far, I haven’t heard from him.
I have never been to London.

4. Something has just or not yet happened.
Ex: I've just sent her the message
They haven't finished this yet.
