The meaning of had better is often a little stronger. 
Ignoring advice means face the consequences!!!!

Negative form is: ought not to or oughn't to

Had better with you is strong advice
Had better with I is usually to indicate an intention, e.g. I'd better go to bed
Had better with you can imply a threat. Not appropriate for giving polite advice

but we:

- advise against doing something

because: against is a preposition and is therefore followed by a noun or the -ing form
