Is preparation important in this class? Why or why not? Explain.

Slide 9 - Open question

ABSOLUTELY! Great portions of the lessons will be focused on improving the work you prepared for the lesson and asking questions based on it. None of this is possible if you have no work prepared.
True or false: a lot of peer feedback + self-evaluation is expected in this class.

What is the signed portfolio statement?

Slide 12 - Open question

The signed portfolio statement is an acknowledgement that you have read, understood and agreed to the requirements of this course and will abide by the zero tolerance policy re plagiarism. All you need to do is fill in the .5 page form with your name, class, date and your signature once you have read the study handbook, the final assessment rubric and completed this lesson. You must submit this on Teams by Monday, September 6th at 9am. We will look at the location for submission later in the lesson.
How do you plan to keep track of all the deadlines - both for this class and your others?

Slide 13 - Mind map

Tips:
  • Add them to the calendar in your phone
  • Write them in your paper agenda
  • Set alerts for the deadlines with reminders in your phone
  • Write them in a calendar you hang in your room
  • Make a timeline for yourself and keep it easily accessible at all times
What are some examples of plagiarism?

Slide 14 - Mind map

Examples:

Reusing work you have already submitted for a grade

Using somebody else's work and calling it your own

Not including the sources you used when required

Citing a source as an in-text reference but NOT as a direct quotation (reminder: direct quotes are NOT included in your word count as they are not your original ideas, hence they should be used sparingly).
