b. The forced transportation and sale of Africans as slaves, mainly to the Americas.

4. Dehumanising
d. Large-scale agriculture focused on cash crops like sugar, cotton, and tobacco, often using slave labor.

f. The movement to end slavery and the slave trade.

Ancien Régime
During the Ancien Régime, the king had absolute power, based on divine authority.

The inequality  between estates led to discontent. 😠

French Estates System (!)
1st estate: Clergy, rich and influential, owned a lot of land and
                       did not pay any tax. ⛪
2nd estate: Nobility, owned land and had power in the army and 
                         administration, also exempt from taxes. 🤺💣
3rd estate: Bourgeoisie (80% of the population), rich citizens to 
                   poor farmers, taxes paid + few duties. 👨 🌾👩 ⚖️😠

Causes: Failed harvests and high taxes caused discontent.

Effect: The bourgeoisie demanded the same power and privileges as the people of the 1st and 2nd estates.😠
