Impress a native speaker:

Plot is more than a summary

Summary = a couple of sentences 'summarizing' the story

Plot is more detailed explanation of what happens!

Theme

An  abstract idea or concept explored in a literary work (usually a bit hidden). One work may have a multiple themes.

Ps. Only after you've read the book you usually 

discover the themes
