Today we are going to talk about some grammar!

To be specific, we will be talking about the past continuous.

What does ''past continuous'' mean in Dutch?

1. Verleden tijd
2. Voltooid verleden tijd
3. Voltooid deelwoord
4. Onvoltooid verleden tijd

The past continuous

De past continuous wordt gebruikt voor een activiteit die een tijdje aan de gang was in het verleden.

Om de past continuous te maken doe je het volgende:

was/were + hele werkwoord op -ing

Voorbeeld: I was walking to school.

Past Continuous

Finish the sentence using the past continuous:

Fill in using the past continuous:

Fill in using the past continuous:

Past continuous and past simple

The past continuous is often combined with a past simple in a sentence.

Hoe ziet een past simple er ook alweer uit?

Past continuous & past simple

Als de past continuous met een past simple in een zin staat, wordt de past continuous onderbroken door de past simple.

Voorbeeld 1:

I was taking a shower when the phone rang.

Voorbeeld 2:

He was skating when he fell.
