This magma is incredibly hot!

The heat creates currents inside the earth.

These are called convection currents.

  • The Ring of Fire is the area around the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and volcanoes occur
  • Cause: Earth's crust is constantly moving due to convection currents. 
  • Plates move in three ways.
  • Consequence: this causes earthquakes and volcanoes.
