Past Continuous - Spellingsregels
1) Bij een werkwoord dat eindigt op een -e, valt de -e weg, hierna krijg je -ing erachter.
EXAMPLE: to have - We were having a party.

2) Bij een kort werkwoord (1 lettergreep) dat eindigt op 1 klinker en 1 medeklinker, verdubbelt de medeklinker, hierna krijg je -ing erachter.
EXAMPLE: to hit - He was hitting the balls with his bat.
