Simple, Compound and Complex Sentences
A simple sentence contains one independent clause. “ Amy rode her bike to the park.
A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined with a
coordinating conjunction.
Amy rode her bike to the park, but Amy did not play with her friend Samara.
A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one (or more) dependent clauses, and it contains at least one subordinating conjunction.
Amy rode her bike to the park today, even though it has been raining heavily outside since early morning.
