Grammar in Use 62: verb + preposition + -ing

You use the -ing form after certain combinations:

talk about, apologise for, approve of, decide against, dream of, feel like, insist on, look forward to, succeed in, think of / about

She apologised ___ saying those things

I am thinking ____ buying a dog.

Do you feel ___ watching a movie?

He insisted ___ going out for dinner.

I look forward ____ the party.

I sometimes dream ____ winning a prize.

Verb + object + -ing

They accused us of helping their enemy.

We congratulated her on winning the prize.

Excuse me for interrupting your speech.

The rain didn't stop us from going out.

Nobody suspected him of cheating.
