What is a sense?

Slide 2 - Carte mentale

Which senses do we have?

Slide 3 - Carte mentale

Well known senses

Slide 4 - Diapositive

What are we going to learn to day?
Today we will be learning:
How we perceive the world around us.
What the nervous system consists of.
How the nervous system generally works.

Slide 5 - Diapositive

Senses
The things we can observe around us are called stimuli. There are different kinds of stimuli, and every sensory organ/receptor reacts to a different stimulus. Sensory organs are built to convert a stimulus to an impulse; electrical current through your nervous system. An impuls goes to the brains, where it gets processed so you can observe everything that is around you.

Nervous system
The nervous system, just like your endocrine system makes sure communication within your body takes place.
It has 2 parts: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.

Neurones
While the cell body are always in or around the CNS, the shoots of neurones can get very long.

Impulse frequency

Slide 11 - Diapositive

Neurones
Neurones pass a impuls within each other through a synapse where a certain chemical (neurotransmitter) flows through.
