Een persoonlijk voornaamwoord gebruiken we in plaats van een zelfstandig naamwoord (een persoon, een dier, of een ding)

The cat is walking -  it is walking (LET OP!  Dit geldt alleen voor ENKELVOUD. Dieren in MEERVOUD krijgen een normaal persoonlijk voornaamwoord!)
