Adjective
  • Says something about a noun (zelfstandig naamwoord)
  • All kinds of qualities
  • Example: The red door.

Adverb
  • Says something about a verb, adjective or another adverb
  • Typically ends in -ly.
  • Example: 
  • He laughed loudly
  • They are fairly loud.
  • The care is driving extremely slowly.

Exceptions for adverbs
  • Use adjectives for the verbs: taste, smell, look, sound and feel.
  • Example:
  • I feel good.
  • You look tired.
  • You sound great.
  • This tastes bad.
  • This egg smells bad.

Spelling for adverbs
  • Consonant + y -> -ily (funny -> funnily)
  • -le -> ly (gentle -> gently)
  • -ic -> ically (automatic -> automatically)
  • -ue -> uly (true -> truly)
  • -ll -> lly (full -> fully)
