Geven essentiële informatie die nodig is om de betekenis van de zin te begrijpen.

example:
That's the girl whose sister goes to school with us.

non-defining clauses
Als non-defining clauses worden weggelaten verandert de betekenis van de zin niet. 
Non-defining clauses staan tussen comma's.

example:
That girl, whose brother is in my class, plays basketball.

who/whom: people (whom gebruik je na prepositions)
Which: things and concepts
That: people, things and concepts (alleen gebruikt in defining clauses)
