Adverbs of place and time
  • verwijzingen naar plaats en tijd: zeggen dus iets over waar of wanneer
  • komen vrijwel altijd achteraan de zin
    That's our car in the driveway.
    I am going to meet my friend at the cinema tonight.
  • Plaats komt altijd vóór tijd (wie - doet - wat - WAAR - WANNEER)
    Your new scooter will be delivered to your house in five days.
  • Extra nadruk = Zet de tijd vooraan de zin
    In five days from now, I will be going to Spain.

  • komt ná am, is, are, was, were
    My sister is normally free on Tuesday afternoon.
    Toby was always the best at football in high school.
  • begin of einde van de zin voor extra nadruk

  • verwijzingen naar de manier waarop (hoe) iets gebeurt of de mate waarin 
  • very, really, incredibly, terribly, etc. komen vóór het woord waarover iets is gezegd:
    I am very angry with you.
    My uncle drives really dangerously.
  • Andere bijwoorden komen meestal aan het eind van de zin:
    You have to cycle carefully
    Henry left the shop quietly
  • Extra nadruk = zet de adverb bij het werkwoord
    Henry quietly left the shop 
    Jason quickly ran to the other side. / Jason ran quickly to the other side
