  • pregnancy
  • medicine use (cough medicine, sleeping pills, drugs)
  • alcohol consumption
  • donating blood
  • stress
  • tropical diseases

  • pregnancy: generally not (some airlines up to 12 weeks)
  • use of medication: in consultation with the airline doctor
  • alcohol consumption: 10 hours before flight nothing, 24 hours not drunk!
  • donate blood: wait 24 hours before flying
  • stress: has a bad effect on your functioning 
  • tropical diseases: malaria, dengue

How can you avoid becoming ill?
  • Make sure you are well-rested,
  • eat healthy
  • have good physical condition (you sometimes walk 10 km on a flight!),
  • protect yourself against diseases,
  • keep your vaccinations up to date,
  • and use medication wisely.

Reading the CAML
  • CAML = Crew Assignment Movement List
  • flight number, date, stretch, gate
  • time when crew must be on board
  • boarding time pax, departure time, flying time, time difference
  • configuration (how many seats are in which class?)
  • total number of pax booked (how many seats are occupied?)

Company Ipad:
  • data will be uploaded 2 days in advance
  • before the briefing you have studied this data
  • ‘red notices’ (TUIfly) are last-minute changes
  • this way you will have less surprises on board!

  • on the left, you can see the name of a particular ‘safety equipment’
  • on the right, you can read exactly what to check.
  • these materials are always in a fixed place on board.
  • As a CA, you need to know where they are (by means of a layout).

  • Your most important job as a cabin crew?
  • You are responsible for passenger safety!
  • Unsafe situation? The crew solves it (where possible)!
  • Material (equipment) is available on board for this purpose.
  • This equipment will have to be checked for presence and condition before take-off.
