When do you use Past Perfect?

• If you want to add information to a story / text.

• If you want to tell that something happened before something else happened in the past.
• Often used together with past simple
• 'after- before- when- as soon as'

                               It is the past of the past.

Past Perfect (Gr 15)

How?           had + past participle

The film had already started when we entered the cinema.

He had checked everything before he went to bed.
