Three years in prison for 'mastermind' behind Rotterdam hooligan club

A 30-year-old man from Rijswijk has been sentenced to three years in prison for threats, discrimination and involvement in riots. He was also given a conditional prison sentence of one year, decided the judge this afternoon.

According to the police and the public prosecutor, the man was the leader of the Rotterdam Youth Core (RJK), the youth movement of Feyenoord supporters. Members of that hooligan group are associated with the banners full of threats that were rolled out during the Conference League final between Feyenoord and AS Roma in Tirana in May last year.

It contained threats to, among others, mayor Aboutaleb and his daughter. The judge is convinced that the 30-year-old man came up with the lyrics.

Majority of House of Representatives in favor of criminalizing non-consensual sex

The House of Representatives supports a bill that stipulates that sex is punishable if it is not on a voluntary and equal basis. 'Clear signals of a missing will' are now crucial to determine whether there has been sexual assault or rape. Last night the House of Representatives debated about a law that would make more forms of sexually inappropriate behavior punishable. Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz of Justice and Security came to Parliament for this.

The law now states that these crimes must be accompanied by coercion, threats or violence. But that is often not the case. This means that the perpetrator cannot be prosecuted.

The current law does not protect victims enough, a large majority agreed in a debate on the new Sexual Crimes Act.

Amsterdam stops preventive searches after unauthorized checks

Amsterdam will immediately stop preventive frisking, because "some unauthorized weapons checks" were carried out in November. This is reported by the triangle (Mayor Halsema, the chief public prosecutor and police chief). The checks were held outside designated security risk areas.

People were also searched in public buildings within the areas. "This is within the legal framework, but by searching buildings, action was taken differently than the triangle had agreed." The agreement was that the police would not search buildings in safety risk areas.
