1: Can you stop by the supermarket to buy bread?
2: Can you stop buying bread from the supermarket?

What's the difference in meaning?
Stop to buy bread from the supermarket. (verb + to infinitive)
Stop buying bread from the supermarket. (verb + ing)

1: You are going to the supermarket to buy bread. 
2: Someone says that you should stop buying bread.

You use verb + to infinitive (hele ww) when: 
it's the subject (onderwerp) of the sentence and after prepositions (voorzetsels)

Flying makes me nervous.
I think listening to music is relaxing.
The police arrested her for speeding.

Likes/dislikes and activities

I like to shop.
