What do you always have to do?

  • Always take a notebook with you to class. 
  • Write down the grammar rules in your notebook.
  • Write other important stuff in your notebook.

No notebook (or an empty one) means that you've forgotten your work.


Create a vocabulary list at the end of your notebook. This broadens your vocabulary and help you remember more.

On your own:
  • Look at the four steps on the whiteboard. Write them down in your notebook.
  • Follow the steps on the irregular verbs on page 1 of your workbook.

You have 7 minutes to study them.
In pairs:
  • Check how well you know the irregular verbs by asking them 10 words from each block. Ask the Dutch word. Write down if it's correct.
With 4 people:
  • Take turns choosing a piece of paper and read the words out loud. 
  • The other group members have to write down the words correctly without using their books.
  • Finished? Check spelling of all members. 1 point per correct answer.
  • The person who scores seven points first, wins!

On your own:
  • Read the irregular verbs again on page 1 of your workbook. 
  • Write down the words you keep forgetting. 
  • You have 4 minutes to do so.


In groups of 3/4:
  • One of you is going to describe the irregular verb in English without mentioning the actual word. 
  • The other two classmates try to guess which irregular verb is described. 
  • The first one to say the correct irregular verb gets a point. 
  • The game is finished when you have described all the theme words. 
  • Take turns. 

Example: '"The man put a letter in a mailbox, the letter is for his aunt." = "send - sent - sent"
