News interview
1. For this exercise you will work in pairs of 2 and write your own dialogue. 
2. Read (or watch) one of the news articles on jeugdjournaal.nl 
3. Imagine that you are a news reporter from the 'Jeugdjournaal'. You want to interview someone to get more information about the news article. 
4. Write the text of the dialogue between the news reporter and the person being interviewed. 
5. Start with: Goedemiddag, Ik ben een nieuwsreporter van het Jeugdjournaal en ik wil u een paar vragen stellen. 
6. Ask a minimum of 5 questions and thank your partner for the interview.

Present a news item 
1. In a group you are going to make your own news broadcast as a speaking exercise. You need to create  an own news item. You may use your imagination. It does not have to be something that actually happened (fake news!). You can use a real news item that you change. 
2. As a group you are going to present it to the rest of your class. It should look like a news report. You can include a weather report, interview, sport results,... 
3. Make sure that you answer the 5W+H questions about your news item 
4. Everyone in your group should say something in Dutch.

For this formative you will write a news article. You think of an own subject, but make sure it is realistic. Before you start writing your article, take a few steps:
1. Answer the 5W+H questions about your subject
2. Think of a logical structure for your article. Look at other news articles as an example. (jeugdjournaal.nl)
3. Find a suitable title and picture for your article
4. Wordcount: Phase 1: 150 / Phase 2: 200 / Phase 3: 300 (minimum)
5. You will get time in class to work on this article

Structure of the debate: 
1. Group 1 (Affirmative) opens with their position in the statement + sums up the most important arguments (1 student)
2. Other students of group 1 elaborate on the arguments + give examples 
3. Group 2 (Negative) is next
4. Time to react on each others arguments (improvise!) 
5. Round up: Every group gets one more minute to conclude. Summarize your most important argument and tell why your group is correct (1 student)

Divide the tasks + research 
- Choose 1 student to open the debate and 1 student to conclude. The other students will elaborate on the arguments --> divide the arguments 
- Research the news: what has been said about the fireworks, search for examples 
- Write down your arguments in simple Dutch! Only use google translate for words. The other group should be able to understand your arguments
