Grammar time

in a notebook/word document

in the correct column

verb + verb+ing	verb + to infinitive
example: miss, don't mind ...	e.g. need, would love ...

- verb patterns with verb + verb+ing  = doing

- What colours do you like wearing?

- I love shopping for clothes.

- I can't stand buying clothes.

- I avoid wearing black.

- I don't spend much time thinking about it.

- patterns with verb + to infinitive = to do

- I need to buy this.

- I want to look fashionable.

- I hope to find a red pullover.

- I've decided to take these.

- I can't afford to buy these.

no easy way to do it = learn the correct patterns for each verb

check in a dictionary if you're not sure

like vs would like

love vs would love

prefer vs would prefer

She likes wearing red. I love shopping for clothes. I prefer buying things online. = facts about sb's likes/dislikes

I'd like to buy a shirt. I'd love to work in a clothes shop. I'd prefer to find a nice skirt. = polite way of saying that you want to do something now/in the future
