 Is de hoofdzin bevestigend dan is de tag ontkennend.

             He is good, isn't he?

 Is de hoofdzin ontkennend dan is de tag bevestigend.

- Vaak samen met past simple in gebruik als er tegelijkertijd nog iets gebeurd

She was watching tv when someone called her.
